Anonymous Thief

I stole a printed surveillance screenshot of a suspected thief from the grocery store I was working at. A large number of these pictures featuring people committing various types of offences covered a wall above the table where us workers took our lunch breaks. This work is a graphite drawing of the surveillance image, slightly altered, and painstakingly rendered pixel-by-pixel in graphite pencil. It aims to address the inherent subjectivity and power dynamics of security photography and larger themes of crime and public surveillance.
